End of the season picnic

posted Jun 13, 2011, 8:50 AM by Scott Rogler

Our club would like to celebrate another successful season with a picnic at the Town Park Fields by the playground on June 19th from 12-3.  (Happy Fathers Day!  You wont have to cook lunch!)   The Club will supply subs and pizza. We would like those attending to help with the sides and beverages. The breakdown is as follows:

K-2 desserts
3-4 desserts
5-6 beverages
7-8 munchies/chips

If you have a canopy tent (the kind we see at tourneys and games)  bring it along as well as lawn chairs.  Adult beverages in coolers are also OK as long as you do not have glass containers. We will have a few contests and fun things to do as well.

A few housekeeping detains to mention.

Those who had PICTURES, they will be distributed at the picnic. (Please let me know if you wont be there.  we can make other arrangements)

COACHES must return all EQUIPMENT and BAGS to the shed.

WE are looking for interested club members to JOIN THE BOARD!!!  WE WANT YOU AND WE NEED YOU!!  If you are interested, please see Jim Barrierre, Kristin Devoe, Ed Woods or Eric Bettinger at the picnic.  we will all take 10-15 minutes from the festivities to talk.

Once again, that you ALL for a very successful season!  You all suffered though our growing pains this year! The boys and girls are getting better each season,  and the club is growing!  its great to see so many new families involved and loving lacrosse as much as we do!

The forecast for the next few days is for extreme heat and humidity, please take time and review the recommendations from Coach Dave Rounds:

A lot of times the kids do not drink water all day and then they head out to a hot practice. Kids bodies will not absorb more than 16 oz per hour so they should drink cold water (cold absorbs faster) smaller amount every hour. Also - in a rush to get to practice sometimes parents feed their kids microwave or quick meals which have a lot of salt. Salt hurts hydration. Fresh fruit and some light sugared drink would probably be best just before practice, then after practice a bigger meal. Also I thirst is first indication of dehydration. If they are thirsty they are dehydrated already and need water.

Please keep in mind these tips.  We are going to have many more hot days to come in the last few weeks and we want all our players not only to be in tip top shape to finish the season off healthy and happy and having fun!   Coaches will continue to make sure that all kids are getting appropriate water breaks and also continuing to make sure that the boys remove their helmets during these breaks throughout practices.

Armed Forces Day Jamboree

posted May 17, 2011, 12:19 PM by Scott Rogler

For  the 3/4 boys,  two 5/6 boys and the one 7/8 boys team that are attending the Guilderland Tourney this Saturday.  Please read and bring the attached waiver form to the fields.

Dear Lacrosse Fans, Coaches and Program Directors,

Guilderland Youth Lacrosse excitedly awaits the first face-off of our 3rd Annual Armed Forces Day Jamboree, being held at DiCaprio Park in Guilderland, NY on 5/21/11.  Thank you again for supporting our event by registering your team.

Attached please find:

·         An event program (please forward via e-mail throughout your organization),

·         The event game schedules for each division,

·         A team roster form,

·         A player waiver form.

Please distribute the player waiver form for completion and parent signatures this week.  A representative from each team must hand in the roster form and completed waivers for the entire team to our registration table at DiCaprio Park at least 30 minutes before the start of the team’s first game at the event.  Any team that includes players who are not US Lacrosse members must submit a Certificate of Insurance evidencing coverage for the team.

Your patience as we finalized the event schedule has been greatly appreciated.  As you are aware, scheduling for an event this large is not an easy task.  We received several special requests, and took as many of those requests as possible into consideration as we developed the schedule.  Of particular challenge to our scheduling committee was the event's 5-6 division, which this year saw twice as many local teams register as out of area teams.  After careful deliberations, we believe that we developed a great schedule for all divisions, that will offer balanced, competitive games, and as many unique matchups as possible

In addition to the lax action on the field, please be sure to check out the food and merchandise vendors that will be on hand.  We're looking forward to a great day.  See you at DiCaprio Park on Saturday 5/21/2011.
